I'm sorry I haven't gotten back to you sooner. Yes if you're still needing assistance, I'd been more than happy to help.

Hello yvonne! Thanks for welcoming me. :)

The greatest challenge so far? Being new in training, coaching and management. Having no experience at it makes it so challenging. I am looking forward to learning more from this site, and all the wonderful people here. Once again, thank you for welcoming me. :)

Hi Yvonne,

Thanks for the outreach. Basically, I am a Manager of Internet Research at Deloitte Services, and I support the company in many different areas.

Skiing is a blast- you should come to Oregon and ski Mt. Bachelor...guaranteed you'll like it!

Best,

Suzy

I have been in Phx since I was 16. It feels like my whole life, but actually only about half. I have been focused on going back to executive search and working in the high tech space. I feel a bit out of synch, coming from corporate recruiting. So I have been really focused on producing for the 2 searches I have going currently. I will put more time into these groups when I have my hands around the money...;-) Thanks for emailing me!! Brenda

The key to building quality online relationships: being quiet.

A 2006 Choice Stream survey found that 57 percent of consumers indicated willingness to provide demographic data in exchange for personalized content, which is a 24 percent increase from 2005. This data indicates you must reengineer your processes to accommodate this new consumerism. Specifically, this means providing mechanisms for supporters to deliver feedback and then, not only remember the feedback, but be able to take action. In addition, processes must be reengineered to eliminate the internal barriers that obstruct relationship-building activities.

About Me:
I'm a legal sparrow wandering around in new turf. I'm using the skills developed in other areas to figure out where I want to go from here.

What's definite is that I'm a match maker. What's certain is that I'm a prodigy of the Chamber of Commerce. What's innate is analyzing everything to the nth degree and then explaining what was learned. Someone has to do it!

But the other thing is, I come up with ideas and solutions -- workable solutions.

Favorite Activites:
There are lots of "used to"s and too many "don't do any more"s; so I'll just list the stuff I used to thrive on:

gardening, physical fitness and jogging, writing, reading, Socratic learning, writing and performing poetry, attending concerts and shows at the Bowl, attending plays, having outtings with friends, spontaneous jaunts to the Observatory for the Planetarium and laser shows, getting lost at the museum or art gallery, learning about Persian rugs, exploring new parts of town or getting lost in the Hollywood Hills and then just exploring. Trying to pick out stars and constellations, getting involved in civic affairs and building something better for the community.

Making homemade chili for 20, with all the fixin's. Throwing outdoor dinners and holiday dinner parties.

Watching football, basketball, a track & field event, a great gymnastics competition.

Exploring Muir Woods, wandering along Stinson Beach, having a juicy hamburger while watching the sun go down on the beach and smell the fragrance of freesia enveloping me in my car.

Rounding up speakers for a roundtable discussion that turns out to be killer for content and information.

Getting the scoop on something while doing an interview for an article or program.

Finding the perfect case in answer to a client's matter and have the research memo become the clincher for winning.

Coaching someone to a winning position and watching them move on along a successful path that they enjoy.
Favorite Music, Movies, TV Shows:
Music: Classical to jazz and nearly everything inbetween. I just love music, whether instrumental, lyric, syncopated, sassy, or political statement. It's poetry.

Movies: Really difficult here. Last Emperor of China, Red Violin, Au Revoir Les Enfants, Enchanted April, American Beauty (these are merely samplers), and lots of classic oldies.

Books: The Long Journey to Freedom, God Gave Us This Country, One Cool Drink of Water Afore I Die, .... You know, there aren't too many books I haven't become friends with. And my tastes run the full gamut!
Favorite Quote:
The hero is merely the one who did while all others did not.

A Little of This, A Little of That

McGuff on Bullying

Some interesting cases:
Handling the Mentally Ill Employee
Pitfalls of Hiring Internet Applicants
Can We Bend the Rules?

The Coach
Among other things, I'm a career coach, and I'm good at it.

Job search strategies
Networking
Career development
Communication issues

What else do I do that would fall under the category of "Coach?"

Disability Accommodations
Tutor - Reading/Language

What do I offer in addition to coaching services?

Mediation
Research
Editorial services
Presentations
Workshops
Seminars

The Consultant
Yes, I am a consultant. My niche is organizational development.

Actually, OD is a big space and I do have specialties within that space. They are:

Diversity

  • women
  • minorities
  • disability accommodation and hiring
Legal Mediation
Communication
Ethics
Training and development
Coaching
Workplace hostility and abuse
Workplace safety
Domestic Abuse EAP measures
Leadership
Workplace Morale
Retention and Promotion

Sometimes what you need is a person to analyze why your turnover rate is so high. I can go through a detailed analysis with you to determine what's happened in the past, measures that will help correct that, lay out a plan of action, and then help you execute it.

In addition to these soft practices, I also review office systems in order to detect economic inefficiencies and make recommendations for improvements. I will then go through a review of the new implementation for review and recommend adjustments for a better fit.

I'm available on a consultative basis or as a speaker, trainer, writer, or presenter. I can make referrals as needed.

Would you like to have my assistance? Contact me.

Involuntary Reviews Are Healthy Reviews

It looks like the last time I posted any type of blog to this network was in July (just before my birthday - hint, hint). So a lot of Internet time has passed. Some things happened in the last several days and collectively have afforded me with unexpected benefits and insights.

First of all, I'm extremely tired. It's more than fatigue. But the physical state of being tired is having an impact on my attitude. So I'm tired as well as grouchy. I'm like sitting too close to a cactus on a su… Continue

What's "Ethics in Recruiting" About?

While racing about the network, I bounced through Ethics in Recruiting and then posted (or sent) a message to someone. That act resulted in their being sent an invitation to join Ethics in Recruiting.

The recipient was a little surprised, interested, and curious. Curious as to what Ethics in Recruiting is about. Interested in the concept. Surprised at the invitation since they are not involved in any aspect of recruiting.

This was a fortuitous occasion.… Continue

Tough Choices

Michael Josephson, as most of us know, is the founder of the Josephson Institute on Ethics. He also has a daily segment that's broadcast on many stations.

Today's segment talked about the challenges that a company faces when doing the right thing in regard to hiring and establishing performance levels, especially in hiring. His admonitions were well focused and worded. The pod is not available today and probably will not be until Friday. So, I'm posting these words now. They can be ame

For the Health of All

There are many instances when an Organizational Development Consultant's input is vital to the health of an organization, its constituents, and its employees. With our airwaves, from coast to coast and border to border, being bombarded with news of the horrors of King-Drew Harbor General Hospital, it became mandatory that the knowledge I have regarding the facility, through experience and observation, be delivered to those responsible for its overview and maintenance. Being the last Tuesday o

EEOC News - Work/Life Issues; Minimum Wage

A couple of hours ago, the folks at Starbucks wondered why I stood on top of a table and cheered. (Well, I wasn't quite that demonstrative!) Yes, I had my very own personal celebration. It's because I've been a feminist since the 1960s. I've been an affirmative activist since the '60s. And I'm on record as being in favor of an increase in the minimum wage so that it returns to being a livable wage.

And a few hours ago I read the news from today's
